Melissa Borders
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Melissa Borders traveled the world before landing back home to pursue her passion in real estate. From Boston to Miami, Hawaii to Japan, Europe and beyond, Melissa's extensive travels at a young age enabled her to become a keen observer of human nature. After earning her BA in Speech Communications from San Francisco State University, Melissa launched a career in Public Relations in the Bay Area.
Through her travels and professional career in public relations, Melissa developed the ability to assess any situation and work towards positive outcomes for everyone involved, life lessons that serve her clients well today. These learned skills help Melissa provide a harmonious process between buyers and sellers as she guides her clients through one of the most important financial decisions one can make.
After a successful tenure in Los Angeles, she returned to Santa Barbara in 2018 to join the elite team at Douglas Elliman Properties. She now represents buyers and sellers as part of a top-producing team with Adam McKaig, her partner in life as well as business. Repeat clients and referrals speak volumes about their ethics, honesty, and tenacity in reaching their clients' real estate goals.
Melissa co-founded the non-profit Adam’s Angels in 2020 during the pandemic, extending help to those in need in Santa Barbara County. Adam's Angels has been recognized locally and nationally by the President of the United States. In 2023, Adam's Angels was recognized and received the "Heart of the Community" Award, presented by Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
